Paper mache

One of the most iconic characters in Mexican culture, "The Catrina", is elaborated delicately combining two types of techniques: ceramics on her face and paper mache in her dress.

Papel Maché

Corn leaf

These pieces are elaborated by hands of women from Jalisco in a handicraft way with corn leaves. This leaves are harvested, treated and dyed with vegetable dyestuffs, so that later the creative artisans give life to incredible figures very representative of our culture.

Textiles, fabrics and embroidery

Coming from very ancient traditions, these techniques have prevailed especially in indigenous communities throughout the country. From north to south, very young women learn different techniques that reflect their culture and customs.

Wixárica art

Mystical stories and sacred symbols like deer, flowers, moons, suns, peyotes, scorpions, trees, birds are carefully shaped on distinguished pieces and objects elaborated with beads and colored threads by wixárica’s artisans or huicholas (as they are commonly known) from Jalisco and Nayarit states. It is worth mentioning that this is one of the cultures that has remained intact since the time of the conquest by preserving its own essence.

Artisan clay

One of the most representative handicrafts of Mexico is the artisan clay. Various techniques such as pastillaje, burnishing and sgraffito are molded and in some cases illustrative and hand painted with representations of landscapes that reflect lifestyle and customs of Mexican communities.
